Ontario Makes It Easier To Register Newborns Across The Province McGuinty Government Saving New Parents Time and Money

All Ontario parents can now use an online service to register their baby’s birth and apply for a birth certificate and Social Insurance Number, all at the same time.

The Newborn Registration Service lets parents combine three separate processes into one easy-to-use online form. This reduces the amount of waiting and processing time, and saves parents the fee that some municipalities used to charge for birth registration.

This online service is a joint project between ServiceOntario and Service Canada and was first launched in 2007. It is now available in all Ontario communities.

Read what parents who have used the service have to say.
