Premier McGuinty's Statement on Tornadoes

"This morning, Ontario families awoke to scenes of devastation caused by yesterday's tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.

On behalf of all Ontarians, I want to express my deep sadness to the victims of this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the young victim who lost his life. And we hope for the quick recovery for those who were injured.

I want to thank Ontario's first responders -- our police, firefighters and paramedics -- who again showed their bravery and dedication by working in dangerous conditions to protect us. And of course, we're thankful that Ontarians also came together to help friends and neighbours in their time of need.

Emergency Management Ontario has been fully engaged with all our emergency management partners since last evening. Today, Ontario emergency officials are providing support to local municipalities as the damage is assessed and as we ensure that Ontario families are safe. Through Emergency Management Ontario, we will continue to provide assistance to municipalities in clean up efforts."
