Construction begins on L&A Hospital expansion
NAPANEE Leona Dombrowsky MPP was joined by Ontario Health Minister George Smitherman to officially launch construction of a major expansion project at the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital.
Our government is making sure that residents of our community have the best possible access to services in state-of-the-art hospital facilities, said Dombrowsky, MPP for Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox & Addington.
The McGuinty government has provided more than $10 million to help the hospital advance construction of a new 24-bed complex continuing care wing, expand emergency and outpatient care services, renovate its surgical suite and increase the number of acute care beds.
This investment by the Ontario government is part of a $184-million contribution towards total capital project costs for specific hospitals. It is intended to boost local fundraising efforts and help hospitals with their cash flow as they move forward.
Todays groundbreaking is an important step toward ensuring patients will have greater access to emergency, outpatient, day surgery and complex continuing care right here in the community, said Dombrowsky.
