Dombrowsky to run in Prince Edward-Hastings

BLOOMFIELD — Leona Dombrowsky, MPP for Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox & Addington and Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, today announced her intention to run in the redistributed riding of Prince Edward-Hastings in the next provincial election.

“As a rural M.P.P., I know how important it is that the local member lives in the riding he or she represents,” said Dombrowsky. “My home and my roots are in Tweed, which is in the new riding of Prince Edward-Hastings, and that is where I will run. My experience representing a large rural riding will serve me well as I look to represent the people in the new provincial riding of Prince Edward- Hastings.”

Dombrowsky commended M.P.P. Ernie Parsons for the excellent job he has done representing the people of the area, and said she will continue his strong advocacy and commitment to his constituents. Parsons recently announced that he will not be seeking re-election.

“We have accomplished a great deal in both ridings, and there is more to do. I look forward to the next election, and continuing to build strong communities.”

Dombrowsky will continue to represent and work hard for the people of Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox & Addington until the next election, to be held on October 4, 2007. She was first elected as the provincial representative for Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington in 1999 and re-elected in 2003. She previously served as deputy house leader for the Ontario Liberal Party and as opposition critic for community, family and children's services. In government, Dombrowsky served as Ontario’s Minister of the Environment, before being appointed Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
