New facility will create jobs, strengthen Ontario's prosperity BELLEVILLE Premier Dalton McGuinty helped break ground today on Kellogg's new facility in Belleville, which will boost the local economy and strengthen Ontarios prosperity by attracting new investment and jobs. Todays announcement is great news for families in Belleville and throughout the province, said Premier McGuinty. Our highly skilled and educated workforce continues to attract jobs and investment from world-class companies like Kellogg, which helps create opportunity for all Ontario families. The plant, which will initially employ about 100 people, is scheduled to be operational in the fall of 2007. Its the first cereal manufacturing plant that Kellogg has built in North America in almost 20 years. Kellogg also operates a plant in London, Ontario. This will help boost the local economy and provide great opportunities for people in this area, said Leona Dombrowsky, MPP for Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox & Addington. By deciding to locate here, Kellogg has shown, once again, that Ontario is an excellent place for companies to invest. The Belleville site was the right choice for a number of reasons including convenient transportation routes, total cost to manufacture and the welcome weve received from the City of Belleville, the Bay of Quinte Region and the Province of Ontario, said Jeff Montie, president of Kellogg North America. Wed like to thank the City, Region and Province for their cooperative spirit and outstanding partnership with Kellogg. This Kellogg investment is a vote of confidence in Ontarios economy," said Economic Development and Trade Minister Sandra Pupatello. Our future ability to compete and succeed in the global marketplace depends on being able to attract and retain innovative companies like Kellogg. Supporting infrastructure and economic development is just one way the McGuinty government is working on the side of businesses and families to strengthen Ontario's economy and build prosperity. Other initiatives include:
Ontario has the people, talent and commitment to be a leader in the 21st century global economy, said Premier McGuinty. Were going to continue to work on the side of families by attracting investment and ensuring Ontario remains one of the most competitive places in the world. |
