Minister of Public Infrastructure Renewal David Caplan visits Belleville

BELLEVILLE — Leona Dombrowsky, MPP for Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox & Addington, welcomed Minister of Public Infrastructure Renewal David Caplan to Belleville today for a meeting with community leaders and the unveiling of a sign marking the expansion of the Belleville hospital.

“The McGuinty government is committed to bringing even greater health and prosperity to places like the greater Quinte region,” said Dombrowsky. “We are rebuilding and revitalizing public health infrastructure in Ontario, improving access to quality health services so that all of us can enjoy the quality of life we deserve.”

Dombrowsky and Caplan were joined by local MPPs Ernie Parsons and Lou Rinaldi for a meeting with senior management staff at Quinte Health Care (QHC) Belleville General Hospital. Following the meeting, they participated in the unveiling of the hospital sign – an exciting step in this major renovation and expansion project. Caplan’s time in Belleville concluded with a QHC-hosted luncheon with business and community leaders.

“We are rebuilding Ontario for tomorrow’s success,” said Caplan. “Together with our partners, we are investing more than $30 billion across the province to modernize public infrastructure and build for growth under our five-year ReNew Ontario investment strategy.”

During his tour, Caplan reiterated the government’s commitment to keeping Ontario’s critical infrastructure under public control. “Our hospitals, our schools and our water systems will always be publicly owned, publicly controlled and publicly accountable, regardless of the financing strategy we use,” says Caplan.

“Hospital modernization and expansion projects, such as Quinte Health Care, will help to meet increasing demands in our community,” said Dombrowsky. “It will significantly improve the delivery of health care services to area residents, contributing to a quality of life that is second to none.”
