MADOC Residents of Centre Hastings will benefit from improvements to local infrastructure, thanks to a major investment by the McGuinty government, Leona Dombrowsky, MPP for HastingsFrontenacLennox & Addington, said today. Our government is committed to supporting rural communities by investing in infrastructure renewal, said Dombrowsky. These improvements to highway and wastewater infrastructure are important for our community and will make a difference for the people of Centre Hastings. Dombrowsky announced that the McGuinty government is providing $1.86 million to the Municipality of Centre Hastings for septage management and the Deer Creek Sewer project. The funds are being provided through the Rural Infrastructure Investment Initiative (RIII), a new program to build and sustain the economies of Ontarios small and rural communities. Dombrowsky announced that a further $762,000 will be invested for reconstruction and bridge barrier upgrades to Highway 62 along Russell Street at St. Lawrence Street. The funds are being provided through the governments Connecting Links program that assists municipal capital projects with local roads connecting provincial highways. Through the RIII, the McGuinty government is investing more than $6.5 million this year in rural infrastructure projects across Hastings County. The rural initiative is part of a broader $185 million investment package announced by Premier Dalton McGuinty in September 2006 to assist farmers and rural communities. The government is proud to work with our municipal partners to improve essential public services, said Dombrowsky. |
