December 17, 2007 Dombrowsky announces funding for Prince Edward County Transit PICTON —The McGuinty government is investing an additional $37,500 in Prince Edward County’s Specialized Transit Service to help improve transportation services for seniors and the disabled, Leona Dombrowsky, MPP for Prince Edward-Hastings, announced today. “Prince Edward County’s Specialized Transit Service has been a real success story in its first year of operation,” said Dombrowsky. “Our government is proud to support this important service by sharing a portion of provincial gas tax revenues.” Launched in the spring of this year, Prince Edward County’s Specialized Transit Service provides door to door transit services to locations within Prince Edward County. In 2007, the Transit Service received $28,000 in provincial gas tax funding. Dombrowsky announced today that the funding will rise to $37,500 for 2008. “We were very pleased to be able to introduce transit services for our disabled and elderly citizens who struggle with transportation needs in our rural setting,” said Mayor Leo. P. Finnegan. “This additional $37,500 will enhance that service and we, as Council, are very appreciative of the funding.” |
