Ontario improves Hwy 62 and Beaver Creek River Bridge Resurfacing 17.3 kilometers of Hwy 62

Ontario Improves Highway 62 and the Beaver Creek River Bridge

McGuinty Government Keeps Drivers Moving, Creating Jobs

NEWS

November 10, 2009

Ontario is resurfacing 17.3 kilometres of Highway 62, replacing the Beaver Creek Bridge and improving the intersection at Weslemkoon Lake Road and Beaver Creek Lane. This project will enhance driver safety and create or sustain approximately 89 direct and indirect jobs.

The resurfacing of Highway 62 will occur from north of Cleveland Road to south of County Road 620. Work at these sites has begun and will be completed by fall 2010. During construction, drivers may experience minor traffic delays due to temporary traffic signals and flagging operations.

“The McGuinty government is committed to infrastructure improvements in our rural communities, ensuring a smoother and more efficient ride for residents and tourists.”

-Leona Dombrowsky, MPP, Prince Edward-Hastings

Maintaining our roadways will improve driving conditions and ensure an efficient flow of traffic, while generating jobs which will strengthen our economy.”

- Jim Bradley, Minister of Transportation

§ The $11.7 million contract was awarded to Aecon Construction and Materials Limited of Toronto.

§ In Ontario’s 2009 Budget, the McGuinty government committed $32.5 billion to infrastructure improvements, $5.6 billion will go directly to highway infrastructure. These investments are expected to generate 50,000 jobs over two years.
